Using Prosecution For Punishment

The Mongols case has always been a travesty of justice but that is not the worst of it. The unrestrained psychopathy that has characterized the investigation and prosecution of this case is startling. The idea was always to “get the Mongols” without ever really examining who the “Mongols” were or what it was about them [...]

Detroit Drama

The big biker drama in Detroit, United States versus Nagi et al., the Highwaymen Trial, just concluded its fifth day and so far the most interesting revelation has been the news that Billy Wadd (pictured above and bragging in the video below) is a rat. The case began with a sealed indictment in September 2006. [...]

Sober Requiem

A year ago, about 11 pm on February 17th 2009, two men named John Lindeman and Brad Lutzow died in the parking of lot of a QuikTrip gas station and convenience store near 19th and Peoria Avenues in Phoenix, Arizona. Lindeman and Lutzow were both members of a clean and sober motorcycle club named the [...]

Joshua Embry Square One

The greatest American mystery novelist was a man named Ross MacDonald who lost his mind and died in 1983. None of his plots were ever obvious. His stories always involved the baring of dark, antique and sometimes institutionalized secrets. In his last novel, MacDonald’s cynical and softhearted hero concluded, “We’re all guilty.” Joshua “Chewy” Embry, [...]

Watching Lindeman Die

I perch on the on the edge of a classic 80s coffee table in a classic 70s living room. I stare without blinking at a modern, 30 inch television screen. And for the six hundredth, or eight hundredth or thousandth, or fifteen hundredth time, I watch John Lindeman die. I don’t know how many times [...]

Hells Angels Gang Enhancement

Two weeks ago a jury in Phoenix found a man named Nathaniel Sample guilty of the felony of “acting for the benefit of a criminal street gang.” Sample has earned a patch in a motorcycle club that you might know. So as a result, a week later the Maricopa County Attorney, Andrew Thomas, issued a [...]

Mongols Inc. Strikes Back

For the last three weeks, Special Agent John Ciccone of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has been frantically trying to ferret out every single piece of Mongols Motorcycle Club memorabilia he can find. Even Mongols have been embarrassed to see him like this. “The little fella is losing it,” one Mongol [...]

Like Us Only Different

It is inevitable that we are going to screw up this story so just don’t even bother to write when we do. The Night Wolves (Nochnye Volki) Motorcycle Club, which as far as we can tell is the preeminent club in Russia, Belorussia, the Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia, Slovakia, Poland, the Czech Republic, Serbia, Macedonia, Greece [...]

Correction Correction Correction

Last week, this page reported that: “Apparently, members of the Stoned Sober Motorcycle Club and members of the Sober Riders Motorcycle Club are lighting each other up in Phoenix.” That report was misleading and inaccurate. Apparently, this is one of the reasons why Rebel doesn’t work for a real newspaper anymore. It would be a [...]
