Harley-Davidson Incorporated, the iconic American motorcycle manufacturer is doomed. The confidant pitchmen now running the company into the ground understand that something has gone terribly, terribly wrong but they have absolutely no idea what the real disaster might be. Not even Willie G. Davidson, who has often been lionized as the savior of the company, […]

Last week the union that represents workers at the Harley-Davidson plant in York, Pennsylvania, the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local 175, tentatively approved a new labor contract that will cut the plant’s workforce in half, reduce average wages and cut medical benefits. Pennsylvania’s […]

Now that most of us are poor and our credit cards hardly work anymore, Harley-Davidson has been desperately seeking to replace its poor, old customers with newer, richer, more cosmopolitan ones. The whole outlaw Americana thing is so 90s, you know? Which is why there was a special Harley advertising supplement in last month’s Vanity […]

Harley-Davidson may be the last American icon. It is certainly the only iconic American brand. For fifty years men have been tattooing “Harley-Davidson” on their arms right under “Mom,” “Betty-Sue,” “USMC,” “Born To Lose” and “Death Before Dishonor.” Harley-Davidson is more than a brand of motorcycle. To the dwindling American working class, Harley-Davidson in 2009 […]

When Santa Cruz Harley-Davidson went out of business last week, dealer Mike James said, “We may be the first…but we won’t be the last.” James just might have known something. The bell tolled again Tuesday. After 48 years, family owned Wilwert’s Harley-Davidson of Dubuque, Iowa went bankrupt and locked its doors. Letters painted in the […]

Maybe this is why some people are starting to think that maybe somebody might finally want to consider pistol whipping that smart ass smirk off President Stupid’s face. Canceling Christmas, burning your life savings, foreclosing on your house and telling you to quit whining about it was bad enough. But, now the Harley dealerships are […]
