Trump, Harley, Sound, Fury, Ghosts

Harley-Davidson’s current management team may not understand that the ever-evolving myth of Harley is bigger than they are and bigger than the company itself. But President Trump understands. Harley To You: Drop Dead

It is not your Harley-Davidson anymore. Harley is incinerating its backward looking marketing philosophy. All that nostalgic crap about Flatheads, Knuckleheads, Pans and Shovels, World War II, Hollister and The Wild One, Pissed Off Bastards and Vietnam Vets, the Motor Company logo tattooed on guys’ arms, the Harley shield hanging on the walls of every […]

An “8K Filing” is a “current report” (as opposed to a “10 K” annual report) that companies must file with […]

Harley To Be Saved

Harley-Davidson has unveiled its new advertising campaign. The giant brains who are now running the venerable American motorcycle company have concluded that the reason why the company’s sales keep falling and its stock is trading at a 52-week low has nothing to do with its product or its competition. All along, it has been the […]

A couple of recent articles indicate that motorcycling may be going the way of the buggy whip. The Los Angeles Times has reported that a study by the Motorcycle Industry Council suggests that the “core audience” for motorcycling may soon “be too old to ride at all.” The subjects of the MIC study represent riders […]

The Basket Case

At some point almost every biker of a certain age who once had some dollars to burn bought a basket case – a bike that was cheap because it was thoroughly broken. They usually never ran but trying to rebuild them was a good way to learn all about Harleys – from flywheels to candy […]

Harley-Davidson is asking hourly workers in Wisconsin to take “voluntary layoffs” this week. According to the Chicago Tribune, the motor company intends to reduce its full time work force in Milwaukee area plants by more than 25 percent. Those workers would then be replaced by less expensive “seasonal workers.” The company has given workers until […]
