The first woman has been arrested under the Vicious Lawless Association Disestablishment Act of 2013.

The law went into effect in the Northern Australian state of Queensland last October. It forbids three or more members of a “criminal association” from appearing together in public places like bars, restaurants and hotels.

The woman went into the Crown Hotel in Dayboro near Brisbane with two patched members of the Life and Death Motorcycle Club on December 19. While accompanying the two men the woman was wearing a Life and Death “property of” patch that indentified her as “Property of Crow.”

None of the three have been named. The Brisbane Courier-Mail is reporting that “The woman is believed to work for the Brisbane City Council as an assistant librarian.” All three must spend the next six days in jail. They will be eligible for a bail hearing in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on January 30.

Yesterday

The homes of the three alleged offenders were raided yesterday. According to published reports, the raids netted Life and Death indicia, an illegal pet snake and small amounts of unnamed recreational drugs. Police also seized two motorcycles which the government intends to dramatically crush.

One of the accused, a 54-year-old man, is charged with being a participant in a criminal organization, being a member of a criminal organization present in a public place, entering and remaining in a licensed premises while wearing prohibited clothing, producing dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs, possessing drug utensils and possessing a protected animal.

The other man, who is 60, is charged with being a participant in a criminal organization, being a member of a criminal organization present in a public place, entering and remaining in a licensed premises while wearing prohibited clothing and possessing a switch blade knife.

The 40-year-old woman is charged with being a participant in a criminal organization, being a member of a criminal organization present in a public place and entering and remaining in a licensed premises while wearing prohibited clothing.

VLAD Protests

There will be protests outside Australian consulates and embassies around the world this Sunday, January 26.

One of those demonstrations will take place outside the Australian Consulate in San Francisco from 10 a.m. to noon. The Australian Consulate is at 575 Market Street. The San Francisco protest has not been permitted by the city so it will not include an organized pack ride.

So now you get to go to jail if Campbell Newman dosn’t like the way you dress. The suit and tie is the uniform of the crooked property developer, when are they going to jail?

The politicians stoke fear, convince the public bikers are a threat, pass laws that are just beyond that which a free society should tolerate and practice guilt before innocence. Now tell me again who the criminals are? Certainly not patch wearers.

This story demonstrates the ridiculousness that politicians will go to in order to attempt to control that which they cannot.

    Keep up the fight.

    Respects and indeed check six

@ Britbiker – is that the Battle of Beanfield? Did a search and came up with it on wikipedia. That was 1985, 29 years ago. Interestingly even back then the police force was investigated and found guilty. From memory, it would appear that our police force are ‘found guilty’ of crimes many more times than the US police force. I could be wrong, but I’m guessing there never was a ‘MacPherson inquiry’-type investigation on the LAPD after the Rodney King incident? I know the police do get away with a lot of shit, but they still appear to be kept in some resemblance of order by the powers that be, compared with what’s going on in the US. However the rank and file police make no secret about the fact they’re used as pawns in political games by their senior management and MPs; ‘just following orders’… and have you seen the very recent articles about those traffic cameras that ACPO want everywhere? The police got them without any vote from parliament nad it was the second article in a week where a commentator in the article said the police were ‘militaristic’ or ‘increasingly militaristic’ in their actions.

@ Glenn S – I like what you say. Although one minor flaw in your comparison with ‘clean cut Irish’ and ‘Asian’: I think you’ll have seen recently in the news what our special forces were up to in Ireland during the Troubles with the IRA? But I think you mean by todays standards, and I agree with you there, it’d be different now.

It’s true what you’re all saying about bikers (as a whole), the majority are free thinking and do what they want, drawing envious looks and conversations from those who are not. I’m currently saving up for a ‘bike again. Even the Mrs can’t wait for when we can ride again. We miss the zephyr.

It goes further than this – the timing of this legislation coincides with secretive contracts to privatise more prisons in Queensland.

the contracts these private prison corporations get usually include a penalty clause requiring a gauranteed number of prisoners.

a few years back a judge in pennsylvania was nailed for taking bribes from one of these companies to incarcerate kids,i think he sent over 50 kids away in the scheme before he was caught

    fabricated crimes
    fabricated just us
real loss, pain and suffering for many

    @Tomo,

You wrote: “I’m now trying to fathom how far behind the UK’s government is on this kind of thing. The nearest story to ‘naughty bikers in the UK’ I could find yesterday was a generic article from Jan’13 stating that ‘biker gangs were preparing to flood into the UK’. I double checked in case it was a joke, but it was serious.”

I believe that ‘generic article’ tells you exactly what you need to know. NOT VERY FAR BEHIND. The Muzzie scare tactics fit very nicely with the Oz situation.

I would suppose the U.S. will be continuing their “no fly” policy concerning selected MC’s that have international presence, but the very same fear mongering statement could be used here in the U.S. “Look out for the bikers from Oz!”
