Robert A. “Chico” Mora, a sometime movie actor, an occasional commenter on this page, a former member of the Dirty Dozen Motorcycle Club and a member of the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club died January 1.

Mora appeared to be indestructible. He was the 6’2” tall, 330 pound president of the Dirty Dozen MC’s Tucson chapter when that club patched over to the Hells Angels in 1996. At the time, he told a Phoenix reporter: “There’s always been some members who would urge the rest to trade patches with Hells Angels. What I mean is our jackets would say Hells Angels/Arizona instead of Dirty Dozen/Arizona. Personally, I’ve been for it forever. They’re the only guys that have the legal machine to fight the cops. I mean, the feds and the cops wouldn’t even try with the Angels what they do to us. The Angels have the money to fight the cops. They own property, movie and other entertainment businesses, they put on concerts – yeah, it’d be great. I know and admire Sonny Barger.”

Mora was one of many victims of ATF Operation Black Biscuit from 2001 to 2004. After the government sting concluded, Mora was accused of being a felon in possession of body armor.

Mora might be best remembered for his role as a character named “Ahab” in Sonny Barger’s independent film Dead in 5 Heartbeats. Jeff Santo, who directed the film, said “Robert ‘Chico’ Mora played the role of ‘Ahab’ in Dead In 5 Heartbeats. It was his first acting experience and he was brilliant. Not only did he bring authenticity to his part, he established a genuine presence on set that helped guide all of us, non-MC members and MC members, into making this film The Real McCoy.”

As is often the case with members of the Hells Angels, details of Mora’s funeral have not been announced

Chico Mora died in his sleep without warning. He was just 58. He took a little piece of many men with men.

Sad to hear this. Chico was a customer of mine when I had a shop in Tucson. I got his bike up when he came out back in the 80’s. He used to hang with my 6 yr old son in the back of my shop. The last time I talked with him was probably 96 when he was patching over. R.I.P.
