A Biker Club Murder

There was a cruel and sordid murder in Grass Valley, California, about 85 miles west of Reno, on or about April 15. One member of a motorcycle club has been charged with murdering another. Most members thought the two men were best friends.

Seventy-year-old Stan Norman appeared on a security video capture at the Bonanza Market in Nevada City, California about 10:30 p.m. on April 14.

The last person to see Norman alive was 51-year-old club member Sean Bryant. Bryant said he and Norman drank through the early morning hours of Sunday April 15th at Bryant’s office, until Bryant passed out around dawn. Bryant said that when he awoke later that afternoon Norman was gone, along with his Hummer and his dog KoKo.

Norman’s phone shook hands with a cell tower on Highway 174 between Grass Valley and Cedar Ridge. Then he vanished without a trace.

Who Done It

Norman’s disappearance incited a massive search conducted by 80 volunteers from six counties, 14 dog teams and a California Highway Patrol helicopter. Police found Norman’s abandoned, silver Hummer on May 4. They never found the dog. Unspecified evidence found in Norman’s car indicated that he might have met a violent end.

A month after Norman’s disappearance, on May 15, Bryant was arrested on charges of domestic violence and torture. A search of a property owned by Bryant found bones in a burn pit. Last week prosecutors determined the bones were Norman’s. Sunday Bryant was charged with murder. He was arraigned yesterday and held on a $300,000 bail.

According to multiple news outlets, Norman was tortured before he died and Bryant had befriended the Vietnam Vet with the intent of eventually torturing him to death.

News

Unless you live between Sacramento and Reno you have probably never heard about this murder because the motorcycle club the two men shared was the American Legion Riders. As yet, fairly, nobody has said that the murder proves the shared criminal intent of the Legion Riders or suggested that Bryant’s punishment should be enhanced because of the club to which he belonged.

It remains a state case. It is unlikely to be federalized. Yesterday, Nevada County Assistant District Attorney Chris Walsh said he will not seek the death penalty. All of this is reasonable.

But it is also certain that the case would have attracted very much more attention if Norman and Bryant had been Hells Angels, Mongols, Vagos, Gypsy Jokers, Bandidos, Outlaws, Pagans, Warlocks, Sons Of Silence, Highwaymen or even the Vietnam Vets/Legacy Vets instead of American Legion Riders. And the reason isn’t because these sorts of torture murders are more likely to occur in another club.

Because of their constant scrutiny, a murder like this may actually be less likely to occur in a club that wears a three-piece patch.

Like I said in my post that I don’t see here it had to be multiple people to do this job because like most killings in the area they are about the green….all kinds. Legalized and now it’s the “gansters” trying to grab up the spoils before the corporations and bigger co-ops push the “dark” money into the light. It’s been another prohibition crime wave that is linked to tax $.
Fuck the government, fuck the pigs, and FTW!

  2. BeelZEBub Says:

If you know the area, and I do, grass valley is definitely GRASS valley. I would assume he killed him to get his money or weed or both. Norman probably back rolled his murderers grow op. He probably drove to one of their grow ops. with another vehicle to get product or money or both. Also a black man in that area is very rarenn. It’s a tourist town in the summer but it’s a rich growers and rich retirees town and rural California is as conservative as Texas…. take from that what you will.

  3. Erudite Hillbilly Says:

Turns out there were two folks involved. From a Butte County paper (just over the hills from NevCo): “Two men are now under arrest in the murder and torture case. Police arrested Sean Bryant over Memorial Day weekend. Investigators arrested a second suspect, Michael Mccauley, a week ago. Both will be formally charged this week.”

    James,

    You’ll never see that reported

    Rebel,

Jus saw my name on the Rebel you fool links….lol

Dont take my post to mean a dig at you. My comment was towards the news sources reporting not your editorial

Dudes son was a fucking wreck looking for his dad. Spent a few large renting a helicopter to go up and look for him. To say he and his wife were wrecked over the old man being missing would be an understatement. Hang the guilty.

  8. Haole Says:

    Sad the media sensationalism.

I see one man killed another, they both happen to ride motorcycles.

Not sure why the fact they just happen to both ride motorcycles was interjected into the article (other than perpetuate Anti MC propaganda and public endoctrinization against MC Members to fill LEO coffers.)

Article could have just as easily said “Veteran on Veteran Violence”

F the scumbags that done it, the killer as well as the writer

When did Legion riders become a “Club”

  10. Mountain Cruiser Says:

I take one look at that younger negro fellow and I see trouble. Look at the eyes. Norman should have seen it too. You can’t just hang out with anyone.

    Dear Tattoo,

Yep. You’re right. Two little letters.

  12. xplor Says:

When was the last time you saw someone ride a Hummer ?

  13. Tattoo Says:

Just a quick aside…It had to be 85 miles west of reno , not east.

    Re Palidin:
    Thank you for the clue.
I had not viewed the video. I trust Rebel to report pertinent information more than the local TV. The imagery reminds me of the Travon Martin shooting. The media lightened up years old images of Martin to make him look like an innocent cherub and lightened up images of Zimmerman so people would not suspect that his grandfather was black. Great technique to support the racist vigillante meme. The images from this murder make my barbecue hypothesis even more humorous.

I am very much into the insensitive humor.

If President Obama had a bastard son, he would look like Trayvon Martin.

If President Obama had another bastard son, he would look like Omar Matin.

Why did Omar Matin massacre all of those people at the Pulse Nightclub?
He was butthurt because his boyfriends refused to use vaseline when they were doing him.

Why did the Broward County Cowards with the Sheriffs Department have a circle jerk while they were cowerring outside of Parkland Highschool? They were finally ablr to get it up again after having acircle jerk during the Pulse Nightclub shooting.

As for the issue of a land owner knowing what is happening on their property, I am still dealing with the consequences of a tennant who rents a small area with a house and barn on my 1,000 acre property who with their nut case son installed an unlicensed and therefore illegal, large scale marijunna grow in the barn. Obviously, this exposes me to the risk of civil forefeiture. As predicted, these people and there nut case son perjured themselves to falsely implicate as complicit in the grow.

  15. Penguin Says:

James C. has a good point…how did accused get home? A third party seems like a realistic hypothesis. Of course when they find bones in the burn pile it is also realistic to hypothesize that proprietor of premises knows something about the business. I remember two nasty murders in the foothills that made no sense at all, but they happened… One about 1975, another more recently. I knew people who stupidly let themselves get involved in both…and had to cut them out of my circle of friends and associates. I will have no truck with murder. Anyway both began with the body and worked to discover pretty much what happened, but motive was never understood…they were simply FUBARS under stress.

Body is generally the best evidence in forensic discovery, I have read. That’s one reason cunning killers move the body and or damaged it…

I have heard that sawmill hands have been understood to use the chipper at the mill co-gen for this purpose. Not only does best evidence cease to exist after trip of bits through boiler, but the universe of possible “perps” becomes larger.

As described this murder (if it was, maybe the cat just died), though cunning, was, I judge, incompetent.

    Re Aanon,

“In my infinite stupidity, I had not noticed the race of the people involved, victim or alleged perpetrator.
Reading Rebels post again more carefully and I still do not see mention of the race of anyone. Just mentions a body found on a burn pile.”

Here’s a clue:: If you look at the picture on the second video that accompanies Rebel’s story, the person on the right killed the person on the left. And no, the picture of the guy on the right isn’t under exposed, making him out to look like a member of the Hutu or Tutsi tribe.

Regarding your third party theory: Exactly when did this “third party” have the time to barbecue Norman? Or; did your third party drop Norman off at Bryant’s place, whereupon Bryant discovered Norman and then Bryant, barely able to believe his good fortune proclaimed: Winner, winner, I now have dinner?

    Re Aanon,

In my infinite stupidity, I had not noticed the race of the people involved, victim or alleged perpetrator.
Reading Rebels post again more carefully and I still do not see mention of the race of anyone. Just mentions a body found on a burn pile.

As I said, this could be merely a stupid as well as sadistic perpetrator. Howver; I do not rule out the possibility of a third party committing the brutal murder while the accused was passed out drunk, disposing of the abused body on the accused property, then driving the Hummer with cell phone tracking device and evidence of violence a great distance before parking it where it will certainly be found.

One question, how did the accused get home?

Easy way to confuse the police and dispose of evidence is to throw the phone into the bed of someone eles’ pickup, take the body somewhere else to dispose of it then park the Hummer unlocked with the keys in it and a full tank of gas in a high crime neighborhood where it is certain to be stolen.

  18. Paladin Says:

Rebel’s article brings up an often overlooked, but very important survival tip. Before accepting an invitation to a barbecue, especially when hosted by Pacific Islanders, it’s always wise to know beforehand what or who’s gonna be on the spit. Me personally? I’ll pass on the long pig.

  19. Neuro Says:

Whoah, Hammer is hard. I liked the joke Crawford, that is my style, Hustler Humor, nothing sacred. Just like The Pulse jokes and all the rest. Doesn’t mean we dig what happened at all. Not one bit. Rebel must be on to some insider info, I have not been able to find anything about details or cannibalism.

  20. Aanon Says:

I sincerely hope that Mr Norman finds the peace in death that he probably hadn’t know since rvn and sure as hell didn’t have before passing. Very sickening. Apologize for the double. Very very sickening.

  21. Aanon Says:

Crawford, did you sit and think of that one in the 4 hour span? Blackie deads whitey, no white lives matter, no Viet vet lives matter. Just a distasteful bbq joke and wonderment of why blacks do dumb shit during the course of very foul crimes. I bet if he moves some letters around tho…

  22. James W Crawford Says:

Not certain that I accept the scenario. Why would a murderer go to the trouble of driving the Hummer with cell phone tracking device a long distance and have to get home then dump the incriminating carcass literally in their own back yard?

  23. Old & Jaded Says:

Sick – if Bryant did this may someone load up the big needle and put him down. And yes, if this involved a 1% club, it would have been a big deal that was all over the news.

  24. Filburt Says:

In my opinion the reason MSM has not reported it as a MC but, because Bryant is black. Blacks get a pass from responsibility.

  25. Hammer Says:

I for one would like to peel that nigger like a fucking banana slowly over a few days before putting a rope on his nigger neck. I wouldn’t burn his body though. I would set him out for all to see with his dick cut off and shoved in his mouth hanging from a roadside tree.

  26. Verne D Says:

Wow, been following this in the Auburn Journal. I live in the area and you’re, there was no mention of an MC. And once again, you are correct…………if it had been one of the “other” clubs, their name would have dominated the headlines

  27. James W Crawford Says:

    It wasn’t murder.
    He was justhaving a barbecue.

  28. Paladin Says:

Looks like Norman got suckered by Bryant, then Bryant chimped out, tortured to death, then barbecued and possibly ate his “buddy” Norman. Yup; just another fun filled, action packed day on the ol’ motorcycle outlaw frontier. There’s just no way you can make this kind of stuff up.
