The Outlaw And The Barmaid

Since before Thanksgiving, the tragedy of a 24-year-old barmaid named Kaitlyn Kearns and a 32-year-old Outlaw named Jeremy Boshears has been presented in televised and print news accounts as a crime so simple it practically solves itself. America is a surveillance society. Everybody’s car is LoJacked.

Kearns was serving drinks after hours at Woody’s Bar in Joliet, Illinois last November 13 when her boss, who was watching the live surveillance feed, called and told her to kick everybody out about 12:30 a.m. The bar usually closes at one in the morning. Boshears, an American Outlaws Association patch holder who has been widely described as Kearns “boyfriend,” didn’t want to go. The recorded video shows him arguing with his Kearns and with the bar manager on the phone. Then he left and drove to the Outlaws Joliet clubhouse which is about two miles from the bar.

Kearns left Woody’s about 12:40 a.m. and followed Boshears to the clubhouse. According to police, there is no video of Kearns leaving the clubhouse but there is video of her 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee leaving a parking lot next to the club about four a.m..

Dead

Kearns lived with her family and when she didn’t come home the next day or the day after that they reported her missing. Her SUV had a stolen vehicle recovery system and when police activated it they traced Kearns Jeep to a barn on private property in Kankakee County, Illinois which is about 40 miles south of Joliet. Kearns’ body was inside the Cherokee. She died of a single gunshot wound to the head. Police said her body had been “concealed.”

Naturally, the first thing police did was serve a search warrant on the Outlaws clubhouse using forced entry. The implication in most early accounts of Kearns’ murder is that she was killed at the clubhouse. Which, maybe ironically, is exactly right. She did die there. The bullet that killed her was recovered from a clubhouse rafter. No other Outlaws have been charged or accused of participating in Kearn’s murder or a subsequent coverup.

Boshears was arrested and was charged with one count of “concealing a homicidal death.” It may be significant that he wasn’t immediately charged with murder. That happened two days later. He remains incarcerated on a $10 million bond. Since his arrest he has maintained his innocence.

But By Whose Hand

Last month, Boshears lawyer, Neil Patel, finally told Boshears version of this tragedy which is that Boshears did not kill Kearns. She killed herself.

Patel claimed in a motion that hours after his arrest, Boshears confessed in a recorded conversation with his wife to a brief affair with Kearns and that she killed herself. The motion also argues that the dead woman’s father told police she had a “history of depression and anxiety.”

At the time of her death, Kearns had a blood alcohol level of 0.212, which is about triple the legal limit for driving. A postmortem toxicology screening showed that at the time of her death she tested positive for cocaine, cocaine metabolites, Xanax, Oxcarbazepine and Citalopram.

After a pretrial hearing yesterday, Patel told a seasoned reporter named John Ferak, who works for the Arlington Heights Daily Herald and who has been virtually the only journalist covering the case, that he had not yet “made any decision on what our defense will be.”

Sounds to me like she committed suicide over an affair with a Married man. The fact that he was a member of AOA had nothing to do with it.

If you’re trying to say, no woman would want an Outlaw, just look at the number of hot chics around Outlaws every day.

Now, look at how many are around you!!

  3. ledge57 Says:

Wow, you really believe she killed herself over an affair with an OUTLAW. BULLSHIT.

  4. Dutchboy Says:

Freebird, my thoughts exactly. Crazy Bitch (ain’t they all) puts the gun under her chin, bang and the lights go out. Of course Boshears is still fucked, moving the body, stupid stupid move. Like most shit shows sounds like a whole series of bad ideas.

Shovelhead, absolutely correct. Just remember, tits or tires it’s going to give you problems.

  5. Rock Says:

Guess what? When you kill somebody and don’t want to get caught, you hide the evidence/body. Don’t kill your old lady, throw her ass down the street. Your dead body got GPS tracked? OMG your fucking stupid.

  6. Sieg Says:

Ol’ Goat, I can give you a real plausible reason for that.

PH brings his squeeze to the CH to break up with her. Trouble is, she’s been 86’ed from the CH by the Patch, cause she’s unstable behind all the pharma-dope she takes. She blows her mind in front of the PH after he tells her they’re done.

Now he’s got a corpse in the CH, where he has been told in no uncertain terms NOT to bring her…and it’s gonna be uncomfortable for him if it’s found there.

He ain’t a criminal, least not a hide-the-body type criminal, so he does some amateur shit to stash it away from the CH somewhere, and gets popped.

I realize she is working in a bar – but nonetheless she was WORKING at 1230. In her photo – she looks to be about .08, but she could work like that – Do some shots on the way out, maybe grab a bottle- a handful of pills, do some cocaine – That is a lotta ETOH/dope in a short amount of time, with mixed goals of speed & sleep.
When she followed at 12:40, How? If she drove herself, Why would she drive back to the bar at 4 am? Was someone else driving? Again = why? Who’s barn is it? That pretty girl does not look remotely anxious. She looks buzzed and happy, not depressed. That is heresay. Dude though – HE looks anxious. Was she pregnant? Was it her gun? Body fluid exam? Gunpowder residue? When he told his wife – what time was it? Plenty of bad decisions to go around, Tragic from every angle.

  8. Ol' Goat Says:

How many PH’s are going to hide the SUV and body of a suicide victim? That is bullshit. Piss in my ear, but don’t tell me it is rain.

  9. Kenny Says:

Coulda told her he was breaking it off. Citalopram in itself is dangerous. Brothers useally try for sex not death inside their own house. So no matter its a fuckin nightmare ya aint gonna wake up from.

  10. Mike Smith Says:

It’s an old story. People are high and make bad decisions. I was at a party long ago and a Brother accidentally shot another through the hand. The Boss told them to go to the hospital and tell them what happened. Wait for the cops and tell them the same thing.

And then they didn’t do what they were told. the Brother that accidentally shot the other waited outside and the Brother that was shot told some wild ass lie and the cops came and arrested both of them and trying to tell the truth later just seemed like another lie.

A Club with a chapter here in SW Alabama had an accidental shooting at their clubhouse and the members that were present tried to cover it up. That resulted in over a dozen people getting arrested.

When shit goes bad, stop! Take your time and look around. If someone kills themselves there will be plenty of evidence on the scene. Yes you will go to jail because they hate you. But you will not go to death row.

  11. Penguin Says:

He ought to be released on OR as the evidence does not support the claims the cops have made. It is obvious that the lady was nuts and suicidal – read up on those drugs – and the “side effects” especially the Citalopram, the Oxcarbazepine, and the Alprazolam.

    Is political prosecution, nothing less.

There are sanitary laws about dead bodies though…and you gotta call the medics…you are not a doctor and whether a lady is alive or dead you have to try to save the life – even if you know you can’t. Yes, I know, the man doe the opposite and waits for the guy they shot to bleed out…

When they offed Marylin M they waited 4 hours to call the cops, they said…

I agree…. I was being a bit of a smart ass. At first glance it has the marks of suicide to me.

NP.I missed the joke which seems to happen a lot at my age.

Barrel under jaw suicide puts bullet in rafter…..

  14. Paladin Says:

Gunshot residue on either of her hands and evidence of a contact gunshot wound, combined with the toxicology report should pretty much prove she took her own life.
A tragedy all the other way around, as other have said.

As far as the Lawyer’s statement is concerned, it would be hard to get anymore unprofessional than that.

  15. MtPockets Says:

I feel for both the young ladies family and the accused.
In the end, there will be no winners.

With that in mind, though, I think the Outlaw needs a new lawyer. Don’t you think “No comment” would have been a better response to the question than “I don’t know?”

  17. Sieg Says:

No winners, for sure. Young woman dead, PH probably toast-I kinda doubt the suicide defense is gonna fly in an Illinois court, though it does sound kinda likely.

And bullet in the rafter…why not? Damn sure doesn’t sound as though she was shot by someone else.

There’s a lesson here…Don’t cheat on your Wife!!

  19. oldskewl Says:

@ Freebird: Unless you but the gun in your mouth or you were struggling with someone trying to take the weapon away from you while you were attempting suicide.

I can think of a lot of reasons a bullet would be in the rafters.

  20. Freebird Says:

The bullet that killed her was recovered from a clubhouse rafter.

    Single bullet, upward angle.
