Bikers Loving Trump

Daytona Bike Week just vanished  into memory and what seemed to be most memorable about rally this year was that it marked the first anniversary of Bikers For Trump.

There do not seem to be many people in the English speaking world who haven’t heard of Bikers For Trump. The group has three Facebook pages: The original Bikers For Trump 2016 page has 241,610 followers; another page called Bikers For Trump is followed by 21,733, and another 1,035 people like another page with the same name.  Two-thousand seven hundred fifty-three people have donated $148,240 to a Go Fund Me page that group founder Chris Cox created last June.

Last July, candidate Trump tweeted, “Thank you to Chris Cox and Bikers for Trump – Your support has been amazing. I will never forget. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

And in January, after Cox bragged his followers would form a “wall of meat” to protect Trump from protesters at his inauguration, President elect Trump tweeted, “People are pouring into Washington in record numbers. Bikers for Trump are on their way….”

Daytona

Cox was banging his drum in Daytona last week. At the Broken Spoke Saloon on Wednesday he told a crowd, “The biker has never before been seen as a demographic in a presidential campaign race. And now we’re in a position to swing votes.”

The extent of Cox’s political power remains debatable but he hardly discovered bikers who vote.

During the 2008 presidential campaign John McCain appeared at the Buffalo Chip Campground during the Sturgis Rally with his wife where he was greeted by a big crowd, loud cheers and revving engines. “This is my first time here but I recognize that sound. It’s the sound of freedom,” McCain said. Six weeks later McCain appeared with Sarah Palin and a bike building family called the Teutels – who at the time had a television show titled Orange County Choppers – at a rally in Media, Pennsylvania. McCain stood by a motorcycle and vowed, “Sarah and I are going to get on that chopper and ride it right to Washington and raise hell when we get there.”

Not to be one-upped, during the same campaign, the Democrats and the AFL-CIO started a group called “Bikers for Obama” which amounted to about 30 guys from the Letter Carriers and the Teamsters. Meanwhile, Vladimir Putin is an honorary member of the Night Wolves. Then Chris Cox invented Bikers For Trump. Life happened in that order.

Trump Branding

There has recently been a little speculation about how much Cox counts with motorcycle enthusiasts and what Trump is after when he portrays Harley-Davidson as a friend of American labor.

An article in the Guardian last week addressed the subject and quoted both George Christie – who is not a Trump fan – and a professional, New York based branding expert named David Langton. Langton told the British daily paper, “Harley Davidson is the perfect brand for president Trump to associate himself with. It’s rugged, regular-guy, tough and not too elite. It’s not fussy (or Italian) like Moto Guzzi. It’s not the efficient machines of Yamaha or Honda (or Japanese). It’s all American. There is a short-term advantage for the brand to associate with Trump’s form of politics. But since Harley-Davidson has a long established brand they do need to be careful in aligning themselves with Trump. Because Harley-Davison is a long-term, quality brand and Trump, alas, isn’t.”

Eventually everybody can decide whether Bikers For Trump is, like Harley, “a long-term, quality brand” or just the current version of Joe the Plumber Wurzelbacher. Cox seems to think he is becoming a player. He told the Daytona Beach News “his organization is planning its first international push into Germany and France.”

trump gives a fuck about one ting only.. trump.. watch the next 4 years.. at the end that lying motherfucker will fuck over america just like he has every contractor who’s built his shit..

call bullshit? look at his history with contractors who put up his buildings.. I know a LOT of companies who won’t sign a fucking napkin around that crooked sob.

    The Kraut,

    Right on Krout!

This whole Bikers for…? is a Yuppie thing. These assholes don’t speak for me.

  8. Dutchboy Says:

Lesser of two evils? Definitely. Of course we still got evil don’t we. It’s like when the prosecutor says “plead manslaughter or we’ll go for murder one” when you are innocent. I’m active in politics but would never join a MC group built around one man. Especially a guy who was a big lib until he decided to run. Bikers for Liberty? You bet. Bikers for Freedom? No problem. Bikers for Mr X? I’ll pass.

  9. Sieg Says:

I’ll ride with Kraut on his last post. Who gives a fuck about this moke? I pay him as much attention as I pay, well, bikers for christ, or bikers for save the whales, any of that shit. The guy wants to get over, and this is the hustle he’s got working…good for him, count me out.

Any group calling itself “Bikers For….” anything or anyone are little more than a fan club looking to ride the coattails in hopes of being noted and remembered for its fealty to the person or idea they support.

Maybe its just me, but, using “Bikers” as part of a name doesn’t lend any credence or validity to the person or cause they’re pulling for.

Now, if “Bikers for pussy” were an organized effort…I might wear a t-shirt for that group as I am all for getting pussy…just not acting like or being one.

Trumps got the job for now. Thank God we didn’t get the cunt…

  12. Glenn S. Says:

Smithy, probably not. But the men who aspire to join motorcycle clubs are of a higher caliber than those who seek political office. And prospecting is a better test of character than a political campaign.

  13. Smitty1961 Says:

Would any club welcome someone with the personality traits that the president displays into their club?

  14. Glenn S. Says:

I think the problem is that, somehow, the system gives us only two choices, democrats or republicans. I can find a lot to hate about both of them. Trump rightly won because he was the closest thing to somebody outside the ruling cliques that ever got a republican or democratic nomination. The government has devolved into the same thing a handful of cool badasses overthrew back in the 1700s. It will continue to devolve until Seig’s preferred solution comes to pass, or at least that’s my opinion. I don’t see any distinction between the mafia and the government, other than the fact that you can sometimes reason with the mafia. The government is an occupying force, and democracy as it exists today only gives us two bad choices.

But Trump’s election does give me a little bit of hope that the sheep have acquired a little bit of healthy cynicism, and no longer chews every bite of shit that the system feeds them exactly 36 times.

As for the “bikers for Trump” and its leader, I’m yawning. I very seriously doubt that this entity can find it in itself to build the tight brotherhood found in motorcycle clubs based on support of a political leader. And I’m as cynical about self appointed leaders as I am about government officials elected by strangers who only know about them through television, the internet, and the esteem they are held by other corrupt politicians.

  16. TX_Biker Says:

Sieg, you hit it. We do all know the solution.

  17. RIDER 1 Says:

I don’t trust ANY politician to do what is best for me. Most of them are more corrupt and have way more to hide than any of us, so I would’nt expect them to piss off LE by supporting a bunch of bikers. Trump Ent. will continue to hire illegals and the Clintons will continue to fly dope into Arkansas, unless they stiff Trump out of his cut. The question used to be who was the best candidate for the country, now it’s who is the lesser evil.
This Cox guy looks like he is trying to get appointed to some Govt position.

  18. Sieg Says:

Enough people don’t vote, it’s pretty much a default to the Demicans. Now, Trump may well have lotsa bad points, but there is no comparison between him and the hildabeast, or that commie piece of shit she ran against.

Really, Trump isn’t the “solution” to our problems, he’s just a speed-bump on the road to a Statist Dictatorship.

We all know The Only Solution…

  19. Glenn S Says:

The enemy of my enemy being my friend might apply, since the career politicians did not want Trump in the White House. And Trump at least claims to be against the free trade agreements that have resulted in a lot of manufacturing jobs being moved outside the USA.

But the “justice” department will probably be worse under Jeff Sessions than it was, since both Sessions and Trump favor a stronger police state. In my lifetime, Republicans have always been for the more restrictive and punitive of the two political parties. More rights were redefined to elimination, more Tough New Laws were passed, more prisons, were built, more cops were hired because of Nixon’s and Reagan’s war on drugs than because of any other premise in American history. Sessions and Trump have promised to ratchet up the drug war again.

Best thing I can say about Trump is that he’s the revenge of the masses against the ruling class, that they hate him as much as we hate them. And he’s eccentric and independent enough that he might come up with something I’ll like, on occasion. I know that the establishment politicians will always fuck over me and mine. Trump might, but he might not.

I’m guessing, though, that the career politicians will use the first pretext available to impeach Trump and install Mike Pence as president. From where I sit, he’ll have all of Trump’s bad qualities and none of the good ones.

  20. Thor Says:

If anyone thinks that Trump is a friend of bikers, think again. He will betray these guys in a heartbeat. He’s pushing for more law enforcement, a law & order state (police state), authoritarian government and he loves to single out groups as “bad guys”. 1%ers will be an easy target.

  21. Cosmic Says:

Been on 2 wheels since the 60’s, aint NEVER seen a fucking politician that was worth any support. All the motherfuckers can do is take your money, take your stuff, take your freedom or take your life.
Fuck the fucking fucks….and all their supporters.

  22. Rottenclam Says:

Chris Cox is to bikers what Stewart Rhodes is to veterans.

It starts off as a noble enough endeavor (Bikers for Trump, or in Stewart’s case, Oathkeepers), and then after a lot of press, eventually turns into a cult of personality orbiting around only a marginally charismatic guy.

  23. TX_Biker Says:

@NCRider I agree Cathy. Thanks for posting that. It’s good to know that most of y’all here regardless of political affiliation, Support us here in Texas.

  24. CowTown Mike Says:

bikers for rump are a bunch of fakes. They steal photos of groups of bikers and claim to be them. They have taken many photos from Rolling Thunder and from funeral escorts by The Patriot Guard Riders and claim it’s them riding to Washington. They have been told many times to stop but they continue with their fake news.
Liars and Fakes but I guess you need to consider the source.

  25. Gandalf Says:

RReagan destroyed the USSR by enticing them into an arms race that ultimately bankrupted them. The Rich got richer and the poor stood in line for bread. Corruption was rampant and the people knew it. That’s a Fact of History.
Trump wants to spend HUGE amounts of $ on Military Spending. Not roads. Not Social Programs. Cut Taxes making the Rich Richer and build a useless wall. Trump is busy insulting England, Germany, Mexico and NATO. He has also created and encouraged distrust in the Media and Intelligence community. He is doing EVERYTHING Russia would want Him to do. The proof is in the pudding. Trump saying Obama bugged Trump Tower is pure Misinformation. Designed to separate Americans. The fact that there is no proof and EVERY Intelligence Org has said so Speaks Volumes. WHY?
Chris Cox is for Chris Cox. No agenda except “Vote for Trump”. He offers no reason as to Why we should vote for Trump or donate or buy T-Shirts. I never saw so many suckers in my life. Welcome to Waco. Where Bull Shit becomes truth.

  26. Docb Says:

Shell Game. Follow the money. Mr Cox is starting to believe his own press releases.

  27. IcemanB&W Says:

Good point Cathy. Bikers for bikers.

I personally did not vote for Trump, or anyone else. I don’t give permission to others to tell me what I can or cannot do, or dictate policy on my behalf. If you’re not my brother, I don’t trust you to make any decision on my behalf. Go f* yourself.

Trump & Hillary(most politicians) are nothing but narcacisstic, insecure, egomanics with only their own self interests at the top of the list and they don’t deserve to be the figureheads of this great country.

If Chris Cox (not the same Chris Cox from the NRA I assume) wants to go around slobbing all over Trump’s knob, then be my guest. Just dont pretend like he speaks for bikers everywhere. I just see a guy with a motorcycle and a man crush.

  28. Sandmann Says:

He told the Daytona Beach News “his organization is planning its first international push into Germany and France.”

Good luck with that here in Germany. Especially after the events of last Friday.

    Respect to the reserving,

  29. Cookie Says:

My guess is Mr. Cox has one thing in mind for his future, A go fund me page that raked in $148,000. You might say I’m a little cynical.

  30. Waco Says:

Maybe Bikers For Trump can get Mr. President to help get Justice for the innocent Bikers and the Bikers that were falsely arrested and murdered by Police Snipers in Waco. Raena and Swanson’s Fake News.

  31. Paladin Says:

“Cox seems to think he is becoming a player. He told the Daytona Beach News “his organization is planning its first international push into Germany and France.”

    I think Cox is delusional.

  32. Mtpenguin Says:

I voted for Trump. Him and I disagree on asset forfeiture. For ‘f’ sure.

  33. Fr. Abraham Says:

That little “Thin Blue Line” patch on the front of his vest tells me everything I need to know about him.

  34. Dasein Says:

Trump’s hold on the Office is far from solid as yet, though I do feel he’ll run and win again in 2020, but not as he/it is right now. The vehemence of the leftist push back is something I think not even they could have foreseen, and it’s growing like a cancer by the hour. So he needs all the cheer leading he can get, for the next eight years, and I think Chris Cox feels there’s a need there he can somewhat fill. Of course, this also necessarily celebrates Mr. Cox, whose motives can’t help being affected. Also, who knows if Trump even likes the guy, and though I think at this point Cox is a positive for him, and Trump may agree, Cox has no real job security in this role. Trump seems ready to make friends, or enemies, of practically anyone, at anytime.

  35. Fallendesperado Says:

Since when has government been a friend to bikers? Trump has already shown by his words he’ll be no friend in the future unless you like the idea of unconstitutional seizure of property and more no knock raids and even more money given to paramilitary cops.

  36. NCRider Says:

Stroker summed it up well in my opinion. Basically, Chris Cox has formed a large group of people that ride motorcycles and voted for Trump. Nothing wrong with that. But I’m just a little more “Bikers For Bikers”. Such as the Waco bikers. Too bad your cause doesn’t include things of that nature, Mr. Cox.

    Respectfully,

    Cathy

  37. stroker Says:

I don’t know Chris Cox. Only what I’ve read on these pages. That he’s a zealot for Trump is apparent. he seems to be forthright, and diligent in his desire to promote Trump. Beyond promoting a man who’s already in office…..what? What is this man’s goal? What will “Bikers for Trump” do or be, now that Trump’s been elected? I’d want those questions answered before I donated a penny to this organization.
I’ve been in the motorcycle game now for over 50 years, and I’ve seen this phenomenon before. Give a man a cause, and a soapbox, and if he’s got a popular stance, he’ll be cheered. Being cheered feels good. People like you. They’re following you. Laughing with you. Applauding you. Makes ya want more. What more is there in “Bikers for Trump?” What is this group going to promulgate? “International push into Germany and France?” Well….GREAT! What’s he pushing? Trump? Trump’s already where he needs to be, so I’m not sure what to make of Mr. Cox’s soapbox. Looks to me like he wants to be in charge of a club.
    “Bikers for Trump” MC
OK…..but, I predict this little venture will fade into obscurity.
No offense Mr. Cox……….but I just don’t get it.

  38. Dirty Dingus McGee Says:

    Jesus wept.

My opinion of the election? We got the lesser of two evils.

    Maybe.
