More Tampa Television Newz

Tampa television news monkey and fledgling outlaw motorcycle gang expert Jarrod Holbrook did it again last night. Holbrook and the rest of the WFTS “ABC Action News I-Team” devoted two minutes and 41 seconds of air time, or about 13.5 percent of the noncommercial portion of the complete broadcast to a story about a “biker brawl” in Key West.

The news in the story, which WFTS described as “breaking,” was that a warrant had been issued for a Hillsborough County firefighter named Clinton Neal Walker. Walker is accused of battery, which is to say he is accused of throwing a punch, during a frenetic altercation in a bar named Rumor Lounge in Key West at three in the morning on September 27.

WFTS bragged about “The I-Team profiling this suspect several times because of his membership in what authorities call a criminal motorcycle gang.”

That’s Him

Walker is a member of the St. Petersburg chapter of the American Outlaws Association. According to police, about 15 Outlaws were in the Key West bar when one of them asked the bar owner to evict another customer. Somehow that turned into a fistfight. According to published reports four people were punched and two bar employees suffered superficial injuries consistent with being punched in the face. According to Holbrook’s broadcast account, the fight was the result of “an argument with an African-American woman.” The fight began, according to Holbrook, after an unidentified Outlaw told the bar owner to “get that N-word out of here.”

“That’s him in the white shirt,” Holbrook announced as he pointed to surveillance video of the scuffle. That was just before a witness to the brawl named Catarina Deeney told the television station, “I’m surprised I didn’t get hit…. I feel like maybe they were looking for it. You know, like they were just waiting to have the opportunity to be able start a brawl.”

Holbrook reported several sensational “Action News I-Team” stories last May about members of motorcycle clubs who worked for local fire departments. The angle of the stories was that Glen Buzze. “a fire captain and paramedic in Pasco County Fire Rescue,” and James Costa, “a fire captain and EMT for Hillsborough County Fire Rescue” should lose their jobs because Buzze was a member of “the Pagans Pasco County Chapter” and Costa was a member of the Outlaws St. Petersburg Chapter. The initial story included a photo of Costa standing next to Walker.

Sweeps Month

Two days after Holbrook’s first report, Walker was attacked in a St, Petersburg bar called the Del Mar Gastro Lounge by a local cop named Ruben DeJesus. DeJesus Tased Walker four times, handcuffed him and then kicked him in the groin. Dejesus then lied about the incident, in writing, and charged Walker with felony battery on a law enforcement officer. That incident gave Holbrook the opportunity to broadcast his original accusations multiple times last May.

May is a sweeps month, when The Nielsen Company surveys viewers to find out what they like to watch on television. Television news broadcasts usually run their most lurid and sensational stories during sweeps month. That was how Walker came to be “profiled” on WFTS in the first place.

Because he was clearly a victim of police brutality, the felony battery on a law enforcement officer charge against Walker was dropped.

According to WFTS, “Jarrod Holbrook is an Emmy and AP Award-winning Investigative Reporter.”

November is also a sweeps month. The next sweeps month is February.

Your claims of knowledge and experience are questionable.

Perhaps you should adopt the moniker “Crawfish” it would be much more befitting.

My knowledge and experience don’t impress me that much either. I’ve enjoyed motorcycles for over 50 years, but that’s not very significant one way or the other. I’ve never considered myself a biker, but I do lay claim to being a rider, and lucky for me I still am able to ride. The bike I miss the most was an 84 BMW R100RS, but with age I doubt I’d be as comfortable on it as I was then.
My HD Road King is a great bike, but it is a heavy load. After I bought it, I found out it has cruise control. At first I thought BS to all the new stuff, but I have to admit, I really like the cc.

The Crawfish idea I’ll pass on, but thanks. Woofwoof pays homage my three rescue dogs, I thought www would be too much.

Funny, I’ve been in various clubhouses, private homes, bars, campgrounds, you name it, owned or operated by 1% Patches, non-1% three-piece Patches, a couple of pretty well-respected single-piece Patches, you name it. All over the frkn spectrum, from el-Lay to Nuevo Yorico, and ya know, I have NEVER had a problem. Never.

    How could that be??????

    Woof,

I seem to remember Sonny wearing a black leather vest in the 60’s. Seen pictures I should say, wasn’t there at the time!
I do know denim got ripped up and fell apart a lot quicker than leather. A choice of longevity I’d think.

I have the same black leather jacket I bought from a guy in a bar in 1982 who bought it new back in the early 70’s. He’s dead now, The leather is still good. Part of my lifestyle and don’t give a fuck what anyone thinks.

Now, when you use the terms “Costumes” or “Dress up” You know as well as I do, those are condescending ways of describing someone.

Don’t mouth off to a patch holder and you won’t get beat, simple as that. One for all, all for one. You can tell the Hospital Nurse how much you don’t like it and it’s not fair. Doesn’t change a thing.

You’d be surprised how Fear can stop trouble, especially in Bars serving Loud Mouth Soup!
Genghis Khan had it right. The fear of getting stomped by a bunch of Outlaws usually stops trouble before it starts.

    Hey Woof Woof Boy.
All those times you met 1%ers 1 on 1. Did ever you tell them how you didn’t like their “Costumes”? No? Why not? you’re pretty mouthy here.
Why didn’t you express your point of view right to the Guys face?

Who said I didn’t like the Costumes? They look a little contrived, and I think going to black leather vests instead of denim is lame, but in general although I don’t play dress up much, if you like to, it’s fine with me. The artwork on some is way better than on others.

As far as being a pussy, there’s no bigger group of pussy’s than a group of guys beating up on 1-2 guys and then running away. If you consider that to be conduct deserving respect, well look in the mirror.

The answer is…You’re a fake! The only solution as I see it, is…
Find your wrinkled up old balls, walk up to a 1%er and tell them how you feel. Get your ass kicked. Get up and walk away without calling the cops. Then, maybe, even though I don’t like your views you might get some respect from. If not, go fuck yourself you little Pussy!

  13. LoneWoofWoof Says:

    Base, Sieg, & Paladin,

Since I started riding in the 60’s, I’ve had numerous encounters with 1%’rs. On a 1 to 1 basis they have always been positive. Broke down on the road, I’ve helped, and been helped. Worked side by side at Toy Runs, had a lot of laughs and enjoyed different personalities all working for a good cause. But although invited, I’ve never been to a club house, run, or exclusive event. I understand I’m an outsider, and don’t want to “poke the bear” in his own den. Group mentality takes over, and fear of not being viewed as 100% committed member can result in excessive response to a minor or suspected slight.

Sadly for Mr. Walker, his participation in this incident combined with his membership may put an end to a profession that he may perform with superior talent and ability. Based on watching the videos, I’d say he made some bad choices in Key West. If you believe he made good choices, good for you.

Yes I did, you suggesting one video proves the criminality of an entire group of people?

Anyone who chooses to start a business or be employed where alcohol is consumed should be prepared for just such a situation, even at that there are no guarantee. Hourly pay has no weight in this matter, a person can get $10.00 an hour at a lumber yard and lessen the likely hood they will be in a physical altercation while at work! But again no guarantee’s!

“My boy’s scurry out of the place as the cops arrive?

Look Woof, you want to have a conversation, let’s have a conversation. Save your quips & condensation for your friends & coworkers. Assuredly they are a big hit within your social circle. Not so much with me, if you drop the personal hubris it would save us typing and The Aging Rebel band width.

There was nothing heroic on that video that I saw, but I get it. Your just “making” your point.People leaving the scene of an altercation is what people do. Because people have figured out no matter their level of responsibility in a situation. What ever level of bad that happen’s gets worst when cops come rushing in playing hero!

You said: If you actually believe that the fault in this pitiful incident is 1. the other patron, 2. the owner of the joint, 3. the $10/hr “Staff” employee, or anyone else other than the dimwits that start throwing punches on video while wearing costumes that provide their identity, you should stop drinking all the koolaide

Yes, on #1. She was the spark that kicked the entire thing off.

Yes, on @2. He defiantly chose poorly that night, he should have sought a more peaceful solution instead of “this is my place” He more so than anyone else’s should have understood that. After all he owns a business that serves the public.

??? on #3, the video does not show or have not read or heard of what their involvement was.

Yes, on the fourth group of people your own biased attitude will not allow you to just call them an MC.

All people should be accountable for transgressions against another. If a person is the cause of damage to property or person they should have to pay some sort of penance to the person they wronged. Not the state or the Fed!

Everyone’s level of involvement has to be taken into consideration and viewed objectively without biased. Kool aid is not on my consumables list but it is obviously on yours.

Your biased attitude shines within your comments.

    What else you have?

Base did you watch the video? So after using a $10/hr employee as a punching bag, your boy’s scurry out of the place as the cops arrive. Now there is a heroic example of personal responsibility. If you actually believe that the fault in this pitiful incident is 1. the other patron, 2. the owner of the joint, 3. the $10/hr “Staff” employee, or anyone else other than the dimwits that start throwing punches on video while wearing costumes that provide their identity, you should stop drinking all the koolaide

I believe the dumbass in this situation is the bear, who may well have to deal with court proceedings followed up by the loss of employment/career.
But of course he proved his point and represented well with his brothers by putting a beat down on some guy trying to make a living.

No surprise you believe that, being you obviously have a personal bigotry towards MC’s and jump over the catalyst of that evening and blame the bear.

In situation’s fueled by alcohol dumb assery will abound!

If the first dumb ass would have been removed as requested by more than one patron of the business that night all this could have possibly been avoided.

    The next dumb ass……

” This is my place & no one is going to tell me who can or who can’t!”

He did not take the time to asses the situation correctly.

So he counted lumps & bruises instead of dollars at the end of it all. Of course now he has a grand story of how he went toe to toe with the outlaw horde, most assuredly embellishing will ensue. Hell, he may turn a profit, drawing in those curious few as customers who line up for a T-shirt!

When will you got get yours WoofWoof?

    The Bear,

Simple fact if you poke the bear & get mauled that is on you. It is not a lesson bestowed on people as they grow and disperse into the world. Many people are lacking when it comes to personal responsibility.

Instead people are taught everybody gets a trophy and your allowed to be obnoxious, antagonistic drains on the rest of society because the self entitled attitude & hubris towards other people or groups of people is accepted behavior. And everyone has to be tolerant of this behavior! A true utopia where everyone hugs it out!

Bikers start brawl in Key West bar, police say

    BY GWEN FILOSA
    [email protected]

About 15 bikers wearing colors of the Outlaws Motorcycle Club started a brawl inside a Key West bar during the weekend’s annual Poker Run charity event, according to police.

No arrests were made but bikers left the owner of Rumor Lounge, 430 Greene St., and an employee each with a swollen eye and a bloody lip, police said.

Three unidentified suspects, each between 30 and 50 and described as heavyset with beards, were listed in the report of the battery, which began at 3:20 a.m. Saturday at the bar steps from Duval Street.

All three were wearing a jacket or shirt with an Outlaws insignia — a skull with two pistons crossed behind it — while one also wore a shirt with a “white swastika,” Officer Igor Kasyaneko wrote.

Police said they will review any video taken at the bar that morning, when by the time officers arrived, men wearing Outlaws gear were fleeing the bar, some in taxis. Not one stuck around to give a version of what happened.

John Mafera Jr., 40, the bar’s owner, was knocked him down with a punch to the face after he refused a request to eject a woman a biker said needed to leave “before there was a problem,” the report stated.

Mafera told the biker that as the owner he decides who leaves and who stays, starting an argument that quickly became violent, witnesses told police. When James Kenny III, 32, of Key West, tried to help Mafera get up, he said the bikers attacked him.

Soon, bartenders and staff were jumping in trying to help “but were almost attacked also,” Kasyaneko wrote.

Michelle ………., 46, of Key West said she was the woman who got into an argument with one of the Outlaws, prompting them to ask for her removal. Police haven’t given a motive or explanation for the brawl.

The club, formed in 1935 at a bar outside Chicago, has a website offering T-shirts that read “Snitches are a dying breed,” for both women and men.
