Houston Road Rage Death

No charges have yet been filed in a road rage death 16 days ago in Northwest Houston.

Juan Flores “Johnny” Morales, a 26-year-old college student and a member of the Chainlinks Motorcycle Club was travelling to work on his motorcycle, on an access road to Interstate 10, at about 5:30 a.m. on Friday, September 23 when he was hit by a sport utility vehicle driven by Demetrice Yvette Baldwin of Katy, Texas.

The incident began when Baldwin cut off Morales and almost hit him. Morales pushed her side view mirror to get her attention. “Soon after,” according to a lone news account published by local television station KTRK. “police say the situation got out of control and the SUV hit the motorcyclist,” After being struck by Baldwin, Morales drove into a fire hydrant and died at the scene.

Baldwin stopped and was interviewed by police before being released. There is no record that she was cited. As of this morning, she has not been charged.

Why

A single source The Aging Rebel considers to be usually reliable said Baldwin “doesn’t like bikers” and was “complemented by local law enforcement.” The allegation seems unconfirmable but it does offer a plausible, unsolicited explanation from someone who cared about him for the apparent, official apathy about Morales’ death.

Morales was a skilled machinist who had just bought a house in Highlands, Texas.

He is survived by his parents, Juan Morales and Edelmira Flores; his grandmothers, Margarita Morales and Maria de Jesus Salazar Luna; his blood brothers, Xavier Morales, Esahid Morales and Leo Morales; his sister, Briseyda Saucedo; and by his club brothers.

Juan Flores “Johnny” Morales was just 26-year-old.

Many men and many women weep for him.

    BMW,

Bikers in the United States need to become and act smarter. Until bikers become a force to be reckoned with, they will continually wind up on the short end of the stick.

The general mistrust MCs and OMCs have for one another is their Achilles Heel. Time and again, the cops use this to their advantage, and time and again bikers fall victim to it. If one can’t or won’t adapt, one becomes extinct.

    Long May You Ride,

  3. BMW Says:

How many times over the years have we seen this scenario? This sounds like deliberate murder — just like deliberately pulling a trigger after a fight…but it is acceptable, or even condoned, if the victim is “only a dirty biker”?

Bikers in the United States need a “motorcycle anti-defamation league” to protect us from the donut-sniffing blue gang and the glue-sniffing c”upright citizens”!

  8. James Crawford Says:

Just read the only news coverage I could find on this incident. It is quite possible that the police may have referred the information to the DA to present to a grand jury.

  9. James Crawford Says:

My brother was brutally murdered back in 1989 by a robberbwho intentionally ran him down with a Dodge van. This pisses me offso much that Inbelievebthat the police officers who failed to cite the woman for vehicular homicide should be charged for aiding and abetting

  10. Mike 184 Says:

The way I read it its Murder. She meant to hit him and succeeded and then he was killed. She hit him with a deadly weapon (SUV). Where is the question here. What the fuck. Start shooting back, defend youself.

  17. Josephine Schlotter Says:

He was innocent in this tragedy, his life was valued. He was valued by everyone who knew him. His murderer needs to be brought to justice. Law enforcement is against taking situations into your own hands, but damn why does it always seem like that’s the only way justice will be served. They need to stop labeling him as just a biker. HE WAS SOMEONES SON, BROTHER, GRANDSON, COUSIN, NEPHEW, HE WAS SOMEONES WHOLE WORLD. So please don’t forget he means something to someone.

    MotorcycleJoe,

No one cares what the opinion of the Urine Oder is.

  22. Sohn Says:

Motorcycle horns can’t be heard by most car drivers. I have a stock exauhst, I rev my motor but it doesn’t always work. Turning the mirror in is a last ditch effort to make a driver actually see you on the side of them. I don’t condone breaking a mirror though. Regardless, people will continue to hit motorcycle riders, usually because they’re inattentive but sometimes they’re psychos.

  23. MotorcycleJoe Says:

Easily preventable accident. Why escalate the situation further by hitting the drivers mirror to get his attention. What would have been resolved in getting the drivers attention? I’ve experienced many road rage situations in my time. The correct and safe decsion is to de-escalate the situation. When on two wheels, always backoff from lunatic pissed off cagers.

Demetrice Yvette Baldwin of Katy, Texas “doesn’t like bikers” to the point of murder. She would look real good naked, spread-eagled and staked down on one of them big red ant hills they got down that way.

  30. Paladin Says:

My sincere condolences to the family, friends and Brothers of this young man. Long may he ride.

On another note, I don’t see the future looking especially promising for Demetrice Yvette Baldwin.
